For Suchitra Pillai, well-defined characters hold more appeal than securing a leading role in a major project. However, she recently expressed regret over turning down a lead role. The actress revealed that she was once offered the lead in the iconic film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Surprisingly, she declined the offer to concentrate on her studies.
“I was in my first year of engineering when I was offered the role that Ayesha Jhulka ultimately played.Like an idiot, I said no because I thought I couldn’t commit six months to the project,” Pillai told India Today.
Directed by Nasir Hussain, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar featured Aamir Khan and Ayesha Jhulka in the lead roles, along with Deepak Tijori, Mamik Singh, and Pooja Bedi in significant roles.

Suchitra Pillai on being called a ‘boyfriend snatcher’ for marrying Lars Kjeldsen: ‘Preity Zinta and my husband…’

Reflecting on the missed opportunity, Suchitra added, “Who knows how my life would have turned out… it would have definitely been different. However, I also think maybe it was a hit because Ayesha was part of it. I believe in destiny and accept whatever has happened. The only time I regret it is when I hear Pehla Nasha. That would have been ‘my song’.”

Suchitra views her decision as part of her journey, embracing the role of destiny in her life. Despite occasional regret when hearing the iconic song, she continues to value her diverse roles and contributions to the film industry.
